First real snow! Fall 2008

So far this year has been the same as last year: one barely snowfall which didn't stick in September, and the first real snow in the middle of October. It is amazing how we are all so excited for the snow. Only a few short months ago, in May, when we were still getting snow, we never wanted to see another snowflake again, a miracle of individuality or not. I love the first snowfalls. The ones in October and November that melt. The December snow is magical. January snow is cozy. It is when we start getting into February, April and May that the cabin fever sets in. But we will just have to enjoy and have fun in it, since it is a hazard of living at 6800 feet.
The nice thing about snowy days is that you feel perfectly justified in sitting and watching a movie with a hot cup of cocoa; which is what we did after the kids got cold in the snow for a few minutes.
